The club has obtained planning permission to replace the leaking, cold existing atrium and entrance to the club house from the carpark.
The glass and steel structure is no longer covered by the builders warranty and does not provide any function for the club or membership. The proposal is to replace the existing structure with a two-floor extension, with a separate visitors and members entrances. The downstairs would be the administration office and upstairs an extension to the members soft seating and dining area.
Plans were then revised, removing the front side entrance, reducing the canopy and using the ground floor area as the main reception entrance to the club (not office space as was originally proposed). The first floor plan, which increased the lounge/Bar footprint and exposed the views over Winchester Hill, remained.
Work is due to commence January 2025.
